INDONESIA: TOTAL EREN IS COMMITTED TO DEVELOPING WIND POWER IN THE COUNTRY

Indonesia, made up of 17,000 islands and home to 260 million people, has one of the region’s highest electricity-demand growth forecasts: +7% on average per year until 2025. To meet this growing electricity need, at the beginning of 2015, the Indonesian government unveiled a construction programme to add 35 GW of generation capacity by 2025 with the ambitious goal of ensuring renewable energy makes up 23% of the country’s energy mix by that date.

Total Eren is one of the first players to have established a presence in Indonesia, where it has had a team since 2015. Through PACE Energy, its local subsidiary dedicated to the development, construction and operation of greenfield wind power plants, Total Eren has begun and is currently monitoring the development of over 500 MW of wind power projects in Indonesia.

The aim of PACE Energy is to respond to the country’s energy and environmental needs at a competitive cost. Made up of engineers who are based in Jakarta, the team supports the development activities of Total Eren throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
